On May 8, Can Tho City and Nasushiobara City (Japan) held an online signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of agriculture and tourism. The cooperation agreement between Can Tho City People’s Committee and Nasushiobara City Government is expected to bring practical effects for the people and businesses of the two cities and contribute to building a good friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

Can Tho City and Nasushiobara City began cooperating in January 2020. Up to now, the relationship between the two localities has continuously strengthened with many friendship activities. The senior leaders of the two localities have paid several working visits to each side, thereby identifying the two cities have great potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture and tourism.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee Tran Viet Truong said the signing of the agreement is expected to bring practical effects to the people and businesses of the two cities, contributing to building good relations and friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
On that basis, Chairman Tran Viet Truong suggested that the two localities would continue to promote the exchange of delegations; create favorable conditions for businesses of the two sides to meet face-to-face, to exchange and explore the demand, advantages, and actual capacity of each side, thereby promoting effective collaboration in the fields of agriculture and tourism, creating a premise for trade and investment cooperation.
This year, Can Tho City will organize several cultural-business exchange programs and meetings, contributing to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. Chairman Tran Viet Truong looks forward to welcoming Mr. Watanabe Michitaro and businesses from Nasushiobara City to this important event.
On behalf of Can Tho City’s leaders, Chairman Tran Viet Truong also sent his best wishes to Mr. Watanabe Michitaro in his 2nd term as Mayor of Nasushiobara City and believed that the city would grow more and more prosperous under the leadership of Mr. Watanabe Michitaro.
Mr. Watanabe Michitaro, Mayor of Nasushiobara City, highly appreciated the efforts of the two local governments to sign the MoU, especially in 2023 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties. Through the signing, the two cities would develop a specific cooperation program that complements each other’s strengths and is suitable for the development needs of both localities. The Mayor of Nasushiobara City hoped that the two sides would continue to develop collaboration in other fields in the future as well.
